Zhigulyov State Nature Reserve named after I. I. Sprygin

Zhigulevsky Reserve is a nature conservation area located in the Samara Luka, between the Kuibyshev and Saratov reservoirs. The reserve was established in 1927 and was originally named Sredne-Volzhsky. It was closed and reorganized several times. Since 1966, the territory of the Zhigulevsky Reserve has an area of more than 23 thousand hectares. Today it is in the center of the Samara-Togliatti industrial agglomeration, where several million people live and work.

Information for tourists

Those who plan to visit Zhigulevsky Reserve should keep in mind that it is located in the zone of tick-borne encephalitis. For safety reasons, you should follow sanitary rules or get vaccinated in advance.

During the route “Strelnaya Gora” travelers climb to an excellent observation platform, the height of which is 351 meters above sea level. From it opens a beautiful panorama of the Volga with islands, the Zhigulev Mountains, as well as the dam of the Zhigulevskaya HPP and coastal settlements.

During the excursion routes, tourists are not allowed to leave the trails, make amateur breaks, litter and build fires. In addition, guests of the reserve are not allowed to play loud music.

How to get there

The estate of the Zhigulevsky Reserve in the village of Bakhilova Polyana territorially belongs to the town of Zhigulevsk. The village stands on the shore of the Saratov Reservoir, and the highway “Zhigulevsk – Shiryaevo” is laid next to it. The nearest airport to the estate is in Samara (90 km). From Zhigulevsk to Bakhilovaya Polyana is reached by cab (40 km).

During the navigation period you can use river transport, which runs along the Volga from Samara to the Lenin hydroelectric power station. The nearest marinas to the estate are located in Zhigulevsk and the village of Zolnoye, which is 10 km away from Bakhilovaya Polyana.
