Qadisha Valley
Qadisha Valley is located in northern Lebanon, in the regions of Bishir and Zgharta. The word “Qadisha” means “Holy” in Aramaic, and the valley, sometimes called the Holy Valley, was a special place where a Christian monastic community lived for centuries. Near the Valley of Kadisha grows a grove of “Cedars of the Lord.” Some of these Lebanese cedar trees are considered to be the oldest in the country – they still bear the notches of the Phoenicians and Romans.
