The Palace of the Grand Dukes (Groussherzogleche Palais)

The Palace of the Grand Dukes was originally the town hall, which was rebuilt into a palace in the 1570s. It was later enlarged and in the late 19th century the ducal family settled here. During World War II and the German occupation, it was home to an elite club called Schlossschenke (“Castle Tavern”).”

Now the building is once again the official residence of the Grand Duke. Heads of State visiting Luxembourg stay here, many receptions are held here, but the Grand Ducal Palace is open to tourists in the summer.
