General Information

Proof of the Wat’s impregnability are the strong walls that give the Wat the appearance of a fortress. In the north and east to the portal are high staircases, the railings of which are made in the form of writhing bodies of multi-headed nagas – an undeniable sign of Burmese architecture.

In the center of the temple site of the XVI century on a hill bordered by old trees rises a high, girdled with cornices chedi with a very high gilded spire. The middle part is covered with gilded copper plates. Around the building runs a bronze balustrade, and at all four corners stand honorary umbrellas of copper filigree.”
