Gatchina Palace and Park Ensemble
The Palace and Park Ensemble of Gatchina is one of the main attractions of the city. The landscape park ensemble was laid out in the late 18th century. It occupies an area of 143 hectares. The park is located in the central part of Gatchina, closely adjoining the city buildings in the west and east. It is in this park that one can admire the Grand Palace, the country residence of the imperial family. Other objects of greatest interest are the English Garden with two lakes and islands, the Admiralty Gates, the Birch House, the Eagle Pavilion, and the Humpback Bridge.
