Highlights

In Adyghe language, the name “Dederkoi” means “aul Dodoruka (Deder)”. Like many resort places on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, Dederkoi traces its history back to the Cossack settlements that were established along the Black Sea coast in the second half of the 19th century. Today the village has a permanent population of about 800 people. Six streets are laid through it, built mostly with private houses. Since Soviet times there are still recreation centers “Green Gai” and “Emerald”, as well as two children’s health camps, which operate during the summer season.

.

In Dederkoy do not find multi-storey luxury hotels, but there is a wide choice of accommodation in the private sector, mini-hotels and guest houses. As in other resort places, housing, located closer to the sea, is more expensive than rooms and rooms from which to the beaches have to walk for half an hour. In the summer tourist season in the village there are several cafes and canteens, there is a bathhouse and sauna. According to reviews of old-timers, vacation here is noticeably cheaper than in Tuapse and even more so in the area of Greater Sochi.

.

Arrived in Dederkoi tourists can enjoy not only good beaches and warm sea. At 6 km from the mouth of the Dederkoi River there is a picturesque cascade of six waterfalls, and not far from it in the village of Paseka is a nursery of monkeys. From the village are also popular walks to the waterfall in the gorge “Bear Slit” and ancient dolmens.

.

Vacationers in Dederkoy have the opportunity to play paintball, horseback riding in the forested spurs of the Caucasus Mountains, dive for mussels, ride a boat along the rocky coastline or go fishing in the open sea. For other entertainment – nightclubs, museums and water parks – you need to go to larger resort places, towards Tuapse or Sochi.

Beaches of the village of Dederkoi

Where the Dederkoi River flows into the Black Sea, spreads large-pebble Central Beach, which has a length of about 100 meters. The coastal strip on this section of the coast is not very wide – up to 20 meters, and the south narrows to 5 meters. There are not a lot of people on the Central beach of Dederkoi. Descent into the water is everywhere gentle, the sea bottom has no potholes and holes, the water is very clean, and therefore it is safe to swim here. In summer, the air temperature warms up to +30 ° C, and the sea temperature reaches a comfortable +28 ° C.

.

For vacationers on the Central Beach there is a lot of water entertainment – riding on jet skis, parachuting behind the boat, on “bananas” and “water trampolines”. From the numerous piers depart boats on which you can go on an interesting boat trip or fishing in the open sea.

.

To the north stretches the beach of the children’s health camp “Green Ogonyok”. It is about 100 meters long and up to 20 meters wide. It is a well-equipped departmental beach area with its own lifeguard station, medical station and cafe.

South of the Central Beach.

South of the Central Beach in Dederkoy is the beach of the children’s health camp “Salute”, landscaped with shade shelters and changing rooms. Behind it there is a departmental guarded beach belonging to the boarding house “Zelenyi Gai”. It stretches for 100 meters and is covered with small and medium pebbles. On the beach of “Green Gai” there is a stationary lifeguard station, a medical center and many piers, which are very popular with fishermen and divers.

.

Passages to all the beaches of Dederkoi are under the railroad bridges. During the holiday season, the coastal zone of the resort village is cleaned daily from garbage. On the beaches you can rent sun beds and umbrellas, have lunch in café-dining rooms and undergo therapeutic massage sessions. For children in the coastal zone are organized rentals of mini-quadrocycles and bicycles, as well as inflatable water rides and small trampolines. The only drawback of all local beaches is the noise from trains passing along the coast.

Walking along the Dederkoi River Valley

In the valley of the Dederkoi River, 6 kilometers above its confluence with the Black Sea, there is a cascade of waterfalls. The two largest of them reach a height of 7 meters, and the rest are about 3 meters high. The gorge around the waterfalls is very picturesque. Its bottom is covered with a pile of large boulders and boulders, and sandstone layers are wrapped in garlands of green ivy.

.

Not far away, near the confluence of its right tributary – the Dede River (or Western Dederkoy), stands the small village of Paseka, which has only 9 houses. In 1972 several pairs of monkeys from Ethiopia were brought here. The place to house the primates was not chosen by chance. The small valley near Paseka is well protected from winds by the surrounding hills. Chestnuts, walnuts, apple trees, glushi and alycha trees grow there, so the forage base for breeding gamadrils and baboons was quite sufficient.

.

The primates began to reproduce rapidly, and at the best of times their numbers reached up to 400 individuals. In the 1990s, due to lack of funding, the nursery was abandoned and the monkeys were left in the wild. Today there are about 50 monkeys living a semi-wild lifestyle. The monkeys have learned to find their own food and are very fond of begging from tourists. This place is considered to be the northernmost monkey habitat in the world.

.

Above the village of Paseka, on the right tributary of the Dederkoi River – Bear Creek, there is another waterfall. It is located in a place that locals call “Bear Slit”. A noisy stream of water 14 meters high falls down in a narrow beautiful canyon and is surrounded by steep rock walls up to 100 meters high.

.

The walk to the waterfalls and primate nursery goes up the valley of the Dederkoi River. In summer the river is shallow, and it is not difficult to cross from bank to bank on the rocks. The road to Paseka takes about two hours. The same amount of time should be planned for the return trip.

.

Paintball club

The place where vacationers can play paintball is located above the village of Dederkoi, on the right bank of the river of the same name. This is a popular paintball club “Gladiators”, where you can rent the necessary equipment – camouflage, body armor, masks, markers, gas cylinders, refills and balls.

.

On the equipped range are dueling and battle games, in which, in addition to tourists, experienced instructors and judges take part. There is also a recreation area with a barbecue, table, benches and a convenient place for swimming, where small companies can have a pleasant time. You can get to the paintball club on Sovkhoznaya Street in the village of Dederkoi.

.

Dolmens

In 3.5 km north of the highway, between the villages of Dederkoi and Shepsie, on the green mountain slope are ancient dolmens. Three of the four megaliths are destroyed by time. And the only whole megalith belongs to the so-called “trough-shaped” dolmens – its walls are hollowed out of a single piece of sandstone. One of the walls has a characteristic round hole, which used to be closed with a stone plug. The massive roof of the dolmen lies next to it and is split into pieces. To megaliths can be reached by trail from the village of Dederkoi.
