Universitetskaya Embankment in Saint Petersburg stretches for 1173 meters on Vasilievsky Island, from Birzhevaya Square to Piazza Trezzini and Line 6. It connects Strelka with Lieutenant Schmidt’s embankment. The oldest Russian university – St. Petersburg State University – is located here. University Embankment is considered one of the most beautiful streets of the Northern Capital, it is decorated with sculptures of Egyptian sphinxes, which, according to belief, fulfill the wishes of those who scratch them behind the ear.
