Saratov Academic Opera and Ballet Theater

Saratov Academic Opera and Ballet Theater is one of the oldest in the Volga region and in Russia. It was founded in 1803. In the 1820s, visiting troupes, touring companies and local amateurs staged comic operas here, and later – operettas and dramatic performances. In 1865 in the newly built four-story theater began regular work of the troupe, headed by entrepreneur and actor P. M. Medvedev. Currently, the Saratov Opera and Ballet Theater can boast a rich, original repertoire, which includes “Prince Igor”, “Eugene Onegin”, “Queen of Spades”, “Rusalka”, “Sadko”, “Oresteia”, “Rienzi”, “The Masquerade Ball”, “Rigoletto”, “La Traviata”, and “Troubadour”.”
