Highlights

Lublino Manor is part of the Kuzminki-Lublino State Museum-Reserve. Architectural and landscape complex combines several objects: Lublino Park of Culture and Recreation, Lublino Pond and historical buildings – a nobleman’s villa, theater school, the building of a boarding house for children of the nobility, horse yard and other examples of architecture of the XVIII-XIX centuries.

.

There is a permanent exposition devoted to the noble life of the XVIII-XIX centuries, as well as organized temporary exhibitions. The city administration chose the territory of the museum-reserve to hold numerous festive events, which are always attended by many guests – residents of the capital and tourists.

History of the architectural and artistic ensemble of Lublino

At the end of the XVII century, the owners of the land were considered to be Godunovs, and the estate was called Godunovo. In Lublino it was renamed by the next owners – the family of princes Prozorovsky. And the most famous owner of the estate was Nikolai Durasov – one of the richest landowners in the capital, known in Moscow circles as a great original. It was he who made Lyublino a place for entertainment and summer vacations, turning the estate into a real palace.

.

Presumably the construction of the estate complex was carried out between 1801 and 1806. The lord’s house, the buildings of the theater and theater school, boarding house and greenhouse were designed by two architects – Ivan Egotov and Rodion Kazakov. They proposed a unique concept – a building in the form of a cross, the ends of which were united by galleries. This is a unique example: there were no similar buildings in Russia. The interior decoration was entrusted to Russian and foreign sculptors and artists.

Historians still do not agree on when and by whom exactly the estate was designed and built: the specified years and names are the assumptions of experts studying the history of Lublino.

.

After Durasov’s death, the estate changed hands several times. The new owners tried to maintain the image of the estate, but the theater closed, there was no longer a tradition of festivals. The buildings began to be rented out for summer houses. In the park built summer houses. All this was organized by Konon Golofteev, the next owner of the estate.

.

It is noteworthy that one of the cottages was rented by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky when he was working on his novel “Crime and Punishment.”

Theater School

The theater school building is two wings connected by a gallery with a colonnade. It is a fine example of Palladian architecture.

Currently, all three floors of one of the wings have been allocated for an exposition devoted to the history of chocolate. Here you can not only see ancient boxes with the sweet treat and admire the collection of chocolate eggs, the progenitors of modern Kinder-surprises, but also taste delicious artisan chocolate and take part in a master class on the production of chocolate bars.

.

The second wing houses a museum of perfumery and an exhibition dedicated to the perfumery art of Russia and the USSR.

Other objects of architecture

In addition to the villa and the theater school, on the territory of the Lublino estate a theater was built, where serf actors performed, the house of the manager and a horse yard with ceremonial stables.

In his time, the landowner Durasov created a unique greenhouse, which relatives maintained even after the owner’s death. But the next owner of the estate first rebuilt the greenhouse building for housing, and in the 20s of the last century there was a fire – the building was completely destroyed by fire. It was partially restored in 1985, but Durasov’s orangery itself was lost forever.

The building of the former theater, incidentally, one of the largest fortress theaters of the time, houses creative workshops and sports clubs. The creative studios offer free classes for children and adults and workshops.

Interesting places in Lublino Park

The Lublino Museum Complex is not only an architectural ensemble led by the Durasov Palace, but also the Lublino Park itself and a large artificial reservoir, which is also an attraction. In addition, the park area has a street amphitheater, a dance floor, a pavilion where fans of chess battles gather.

.

On the territory of the park every week free classes are organized for visitors: teaching dance, yoga, playing chess, master classes in the art and creativity studios for adults and children, drawing plein air, thematic quests, sports competitions. Sports grounds are available to all visitors at any time of the year: there are areas with rubber flooring, vorkout, ping-pong and basketball courts, a tennis court, hockey and mini-football boxes.

.

For young visitors, the park has interesting playgrounds with a variety of slides, swings, merry-go-rounds and other entertainment.

.

Giant swings

One of the playgrounds in the park is an unusual structure, which is a complex of swings arranged in a circle. 28 people can swing on them at a time, not only children, but also adults.

There are no catering facilities in Lublinsky Park. If you want to eat after a walk, the nearest cafe will be found only outside the territory – this is a well-known to everyone chain institution “Dodo Pizza”. The distance to the catering point is 500 meters. Other cafes are even farther away. In the park at the request of visitors was going to build a cafe, but the project was never realized.

.

The nearest metro station to Lublinsky Park is Volzhskaya (Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line). From the metro to the museum-estate can be reached only on foot: 300 meters along Krasnodonskaya Street to the entrance to the park, and then about another 700 meters to the manor house.
