Museum-diorama “Kursk Battle. Belgorod direction.”

Museum-diorama “The Battle of Kursk. Belgorod direction” is the most visited museum in Belgorod. “Hall of Military Glory”, which is part of the complex, was opened in 1985, to the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory. Then the museum was closed in order to create the largest diorama in Russia, dedicated to the Prokhorovka tank battle on July 12, 1943. The museum finally opened its doors to visitors in 1987, after the completion of construction and art works. On the first day after the opening, August 4, 50 thousand people came to see the diorama. The area of the canvas is 1005 m². In the same hall there is a relief model telling about the situation on the day of the battle. The building of the diorama resembles in shape an arc raised on a high plinth. In front of it installed tank IS-3, three mortars, self-propelled gun ISU-152.
