On weekends, and especially on Sunday, Pattaya residents with their families like to come to Jomtien for a vacation. They park their motorcycles and cars along the street and spend several hours by the sea. These days the beach can be quite crowded and parking is not easy to find.

Thais love to picnic on Jomtien, seated on mats right on the sidewalks, or under umbrellas on beach chairs. Traditional Thai vacation is different from the noisy pastime we are used to. Residents of the kingdom, even if they drink, as a rule, never make noise, do not turn on loud music and try not to disturb those who are vacationing nearby.

In 2016, the Jomtien promenade was thoroughly reconstructed – the sidewalks were slightly widened and laid out with neat tiles, as well as places for flowerbeds. Special ramps have been installed for children’s strollers and wheelchair users so that they can conveniently go down to the beach. The renewed Jomtien Beach looks even more attractive, and vacationers in Pattaya love to sunbathe, swim, spend beautiful sunset hours and do water sports here.

Features of beach vacation and resort infrastructure

Almost all along, Jomtien Beach is divided into zones equipped for beach recreation. Each of these zones is usually serviced by a Thai family renting that part of the beach. Staying in any place you like, you can rent beach beds and umbrellas and sunbathe for as long as you want. Sunbeds cost 30-100 THB.

Behind the street that limits the beach from the urban development of Jomtien district, from morning to evening there are several cafes, bars and restaurants where tourists can taste European and Thai cuisine for quite democratic prices. In the same restaurants and cafes, if necessary, you can use the toilets. Separate toilets (10 THB) and showers (20 THB) are located in several places along Jomtiensainueng Beach Street, and they are clearly visible by signs.

Jomtien in February

During the high tourist season, from mid-November through March, storms at sea are a rarity. Waves, as a rule, rise only in the monsoon period and during thunderstorms. And it happens in summer and the first half of fall. But in the area of Pattaya waves are rarely of such size that it was impossible to swim.

.

Bathing near Jomtien beach is safe. Here there are never sharks, and at the bottom do not meet spiny sea urchins. And only in the middle of summer can be 1-2 weeks, when the shore accumulates a lot of jellyfish, from contact with which you can get burns. By the way, if this happens, it is best to ask for first aid from Thais working on the beach. They, as a rule, look after the things of tourists while they are swimming.

Beach activities

Jomtien Beach has many activities. Here you can ride a “banana”, as well as water skiing or “parachute” following a boat. If you want to travel, the beach can hire a boat for a boat trip to the island of Ko Lan, which is 9 km from the beach or to other small islands in the Gulf of Thailand, located near the shore.
