Dzhemete is a picturesque resort village on the Black Sea coast, located between Anapa and Vityazevo, 5 km northwest of the city center. Dzhemete has the status of a suburb of Anapa. It is permanently inhabited by about 1000 people, and during the summer tourist season at the expense of tourists the local population grows several times.

History of the village of Dzhemete

In 1828, a military fortification was built northwest of Anapa. The Dzhemeti garrison protected the city and was responsible for ensuring that incoming food and goods from Taman reached the Anapa fortress unhindered. The settlement performed military functions for more than half a century.

Then the chief of the Black Sea District, General D. V. Pilenko built a house near the fortifications and began growing grapes on the surrounding dunes. Thanks to him, the traditions of local viticulture were established, and several independent farms appeared in Dzhemete, where excellent wine was made.

The 1917 Revolution and the Civil War that followed severely devastated Dzhemete. When peacetime came, the remaining vineyards and wineries were nationalized. In 1922, in Dzhemete created a grape-growing state farm “Dzhemete” and Anapa Zonal Experimental Station, where new varieties of grapes were developed. Since the middle of the last century, the suburb of Anapa began to develop as a resort village.

The beaches of Dzhemete

A strip of magnificent, covered with golden sand beaches stretches across the entire village of Dzhemete. It reaches a width of 100-130 meters. Fine quartz sand in places has inclusions of mica and coquina. From the residential area of Dzhemete beach strip is separated by picturesque sand dunes up to 15 meters high. Various forms of sandy hills and their vegetation create unique landscapes of the resort village. The wide beaches were formed thanks to the Kuban River. Once the river flowed into the Black Sea here and brought to the seashore a large amount of sand. At the end of the XVIII century, the Kuban changed its course, leaving extensive sandy strips in the area of Dzhemete, Vityazevo and on the Kiziltashsky estuary.

On all beaches of the resort village entrance to the sea is very gentle, the sea bottom is flat and does not have holes, potholes and large stones. Oceanarium, Dolphinarium and Safari Park

In the southeastern part of Dzhemete, at the intersection of Pionersky Avenue and Koltsevaya Street (Pionersky Ave., 20A) is a large entertainment complex, where all vacationers in Anapa try to come. Transportation

The main means of transportation in Anapa and its suburbs are shuttle buses and cabs. In Dzhemete they run along Pionersky Avenue. Shuttle cab No. 114 runs from Vityazevo (Peschanyi farm) through Dzhemete, Central and Southern markets of Anapa to microdistrict 3B. It, as well as route cab № 128, can be used to get to the Anapa bus station and port.

The marshrutkas start from 7.00 and finish at 22.00. Conveniently, the traffic interval between them is small – from 4 to 10 minutes. The marshrutkas stop at any place if the driver sees a potential passenger with a raised hand. However, it is better to get on them at stops.

Vacationers in Jemete are not recommended to take a private cab on the streets, as for their services cab drivers ask unreasonably high prices. If there is a need to travel by cab, it is better to order a car in advance by phone or via the Internet.

On Dzhemete and its surroundings, many travel by bicycle. In the resort village there are rental shops for adult and children’s bicycles, quad bikes and segways.

How to get there

Anapa airport is located north of Dzhemete, behind Vityazevo. The railway station of the resort town is even closer, just 1.5 km from the sea, next to Upper Dzhemete. Some tourists come to the coast by train, and some come by airplane. In any case, the way to the resort village by shuttle bus or bus takes only 5-10 minutes.
