Museum-estate “Peter the Great’s Boot”

Peter the Great’s Boot is a museum-estate in the village of Vyeskovo, on Mount Gremyach near Pereslavl-Zalessky, where the legendary boot “Fortuna” is exhibited. The boat of Peter the Great claims to be the oldest provincial museum in Russia. It was founded in 1803. This place is remarkable for the fact that it was here, on Lake Pleshcheyevo, that Peter the Great built the famous petseshka flotilla – the forerunner of the Russian Navy. On the territory of the museum-estate there are an obelisk and a monument to Peter the Great, the White Palace, the Botny House, the rotunda, the Triumphal Gates and the gatehouse. In the deliberately built Botny House was installed the only surviving ship of the pets’ flotilla – the boat “Fortuna”, and around it anchors, rudders and masts from other ships.
