The Puppet Theater in Petrozavodsk has been delighting guests and residents of the city with its productions for almost a century. History of the Puppet Theater
The State Puppet Theater of the Republic of Karelia was opened in December 1935. The founders of the theater were actors who graduated from the course of S. V. Obraztsov. At different times in the puppet theater worked many famous artists: H. Skaldina, N. Borovkov, Y. Andreev, S. Belkin and others.

In 2003, the theater acted as the organizer of “Kuklantida” – a festival of children’s and youth puppet theaters of the Republic of Karelia. This event is held every 2 years. The plays presented by the theater troupe have repeatedly become nominees of the “Golden Mask”. Actors V. Antonov and L. Biryukova were able to become the winners of this prestigious award.
