Predjama Castle (Grad Predjama)
Predjama Castle is a picturesque fortress located near the town of Predjama, 7 km northwest of Postojna Cave. The castle is literally built into a steep cliff. It was built in the XIII century, but it acquired its modern Renaissance appearance during the restoration of the XVI century. Several halls of the castle are furnished in the style of the time. The stairs to the upper floors are carved directly into the rock. Under the castle there is a cave (May – September, opening hours vary, October – April closed due to bats).
