Castelul Peleş

Castelul Peleş is located near the Romanian town of Sinaia, in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, on the medieval route connecting Transylvania and Wallachia. Construction of the castle began in 1873 and continued until 1914. The construction was carried out by Karol I and his wife Elizabeth, who often mentioned Peleš in her letters. The castle was named after the nearby mountain river. The palace was designed using the most advanced technologies of the time. Peles was the first castle in the world to have electricity and an elevator. A little later, in 1916, a movie theater was even made in the castle.
