Москва-река

Moscow River is the waterway of the capital city, its important transportation artery and the main source of fresh water.

At its very beginning, the Moskva River is a modest, inconspicuous stream, not exceeding two meters in width, and in some places narrowing to 20 centimeters. The river originates in the Star’kovsky swamp of the Mozhaisky district of the Moscow region. After a dozen and a half kilometers from its beginning, the rivulet flows into Lake Mikhalevskoe. It is believed that the water flowing out of the lake – and is the Moscow River itself, and it is from this point counted from its length of 500 kilometers.

There are many fishing grounds on the Mozhaisk Reservoir, popular with fans of hunting with a fishing rod. In the Moskva River there are more than 30 species of fish – roach, bream, pikeperch, zander, carp, pike and others. Due to water pollution not all fish caught in all places can be eaten, but this does not detract from the excitement of anglers. The catch is weighed to record their own achievements, and the fish is released into its native element.
