Kara Sea
Kara Sea is a part of the Arctic Ocean. It is bounded by the northern coast of Eurasia and the islands of Novaya Zemlya, Franz Josef Land, Severnaya Zemlya, and Geiberga. In the northern part of the sea is Vise Land, an island discovered theoretically in 1924. Also in the sea are the islands of the Arctic Institute, Izvestiya CEC islands.

The Kara Sea is located mainly on the shelf; there are many islands. Depths of 30-100 m predominate; greatest depth 600 m. The area is 883,000 km².
.Full-flowing rivers flow into the sea: Ob, Yenisei, so the salinity varies greatly.
.The Kara Sea is one of the coldest seas in Russia, only near the mouths of rivers the water temperature is above 0°C in summer. Fogs and storms are frequent. Most of the year the sea is covered with ice.

There are many fish in the sea: whitefish, char, flounder, etc.
.The main port is Dickson (port). The Northern Sea Route passes through the Kara Sea.
