Izhevsk Zoo
Izhevsk Zoo is located in the Kirov Park of Culture and Recreation. The State Zoological Park of Udmurtia is a recreational place with a total area of 11 hectares. The zoo was opened on September 15, 2008, and today it is among the top 5 most visited in Russia and among the top 20 best in Europe. Here on one territory you can meet both savannah inhabitants and inhabitants of boundless snow and ice. The main principle of Izhevsk Zoo is to show animals in an environment that is as close to natural conditions as possible. The animals are separated from the visitors by glass, which does not interfere at all with observing the life of the inhabitants. The collection of the Udmurtia Zoo today has more than 700 animals, 213 species, and every year the number of its inhabitants is replenished by more than 100 animals. The expositions of the Izhevsk Zoo are divided into zones: “White North”, “Far East”, “Udmurt village”, “Treasures of the taiga”, “Pond”, “Land of monkeys”, “Contact zoo”, “Parrots and parrots”, “World of exotics.”
