Cox`s Bazar Beach

Cox’s Bazar Beach is Bangladesh’s only beach area and seaside resort located in the southeastern part of the state, near the border areas with Myanmar.

.

General Information

The uniqueness of the place lies primarily in its natural beaches, which have the longest length in the whole world. The total length of all the beaches is more than 200 kilometers. The most popular beach of the area, Inani Beach, reaches a length of about 120 km and a width of about 75 meters, making it the longest in the world. It is located near the provincial town of Cox’s Bazar, and 150 km from the city of Chittagong.

.

In 2009, this beach was listed as one of the Seven New Wonders of Nature, a contest conducted through a worldwide vote to identify seven interesting natural attractions. Another interesting beach in the region is Patenga. In general, the beaches of Cox’s Bazar are one of the popular places for both local people and foreign tourists. The latter can be found here in much smaller numbers than the former, the reason for this is a poorly developed system of recreation industry. The peculiarity of the beaches of Kosk-bazaar is also the fact that in the coastal areas has not been a single case of marine predators – sharks.

.

From the disadvantages of the beaches can be noted the presence of rules in accordance with the norms of Islam, prohibiting women to appear without closed clothes in public places, which is common not only to the local population, but also to visitors to the state. Along the multi-kilometer coastline and surrounding areas, tourists can also visit many interesting sights. For example, the Buddhist monastery of Bara Khyang and its tombs, here is the largest statue of Buddha in the entire state of Bangladesh. Equally popular is the Dulhazara Safari Park, located 100 km from Chittagong.
