Columbus Lighthouse

Columbus Lighthouse is a highly controversial structure (its cost, location and other factors are questionable), when it lights up it is truly a stunning sight. It was built in the late 1980s, based on Joaquín Balaguer’s idea of a cross, and has become a real landmark in the country’s history. It simultaneously serves as a mausoleum and a museum with many exhibits. And although several other places vie with each other for the burial of Columbus’ alleged remains, they rest within these very walls.
