Colosseum
Colosseum is one of the most recognizable architectural monuments both in Italy and around the world. For almost two thousand years, the majestic amphitheater, located in the heart of Rome, has been gathering millions of visitors around it, eager to see this iconic structure with their own eyes.
.
The name Colosseum comes from the Latin word colosseus, which means “huge”. Such a building seemed to the Romans at the dawn of our era, when the height of most buildings did not exceed 10 meters. Modern tourists evaluate the size of the amphitheater differently, as skyscrapers have changed our sense of scale. But it is important to understand that the specialty of the Colosseum is not the height of its walls, but the cultural and historical contribution it made to civilization.

Most often, international flights land at Leonardo da Vinci Airport, which all Italians call Fiumicino. It is located 20 kilometers from Rome itself, but this small distance is not so easy to overcome, given the intensity of traffic towards the Italian capital.
.
Very often tourists travel from the airport to the city by train, which departs from one of the terminals. The cost of the ticket is 14 euros, and the trip takes about 35 minutes. But in this case, it is worth considering that you will only get to the city station, from which you will have to go to the hotel by another form of transportation.
.
If you are traveling in a large company, it is most logical to take a cab near the walls of the airport. These are white cars signed “Comune di Roma”, which are the property of the city and therefore have fixed fares. The minimum cost of the trip is 40€, and further depends on the location of the hotel.

Once you’re finally in Rome, getting to the Colosseum shouldn’t be too difficult. The majestic amphitheater is located at the Colosseo metro station of the same name in the heart of the city. The ticket costs 1€ and allows you to travel underground for 75 minutes.
