Byron Bay
Byron Bay is a magnificent harbor with 30km of sandy beach, and is home to the town of the same name. Originally known only for its slaughterhouse, it was a mediocre working-class town in the late 1960s. The area then became popular with surfers as Lennox Head Beach, one of the top ten surfing beaches in the world, is very close by. Hundreds of professional surfers gather here from May through July, attracted by the huge waves.”
