Boali Waterfalls

Boali Waterfalls are located on the Mbari River, in the Ombella-Mpoko prefecture, near the CAR capital, Bangui. The water falls are over 50 meters high and 250 meters wide. In the rainy season they are full of water and produce the most impressive spectacle, while in drought only a small trickle of water remains from the waterfalls.

General Information

Upstream, a hydroelectric plant has been built to regulate the water pressure coming to the waterfalls. If a large group of tourists is scheduled to visit the falls, a dam built with the help of China releases some water.Along the water fall, a staircase is cut into the rock, allowing you to descend to the foot of the falls. A path leads further down to the lake.

However, one should refrain from the temptation to bathe in its clear waters, which may have crocodiles. The main part of the way from the capital to the waterfalls can be overcome by car. Waterfalls are located in one of the most untouched corners of the globe, so directly to the waterfalls is possible to get only on foot, passing about 5 kilometers of jungle. In Buali, you can hire a guide or a group of guides from the locals.
