The Legend of Agura Falls
Like any self-respecting natural monument, Agur waterfalls have their own legend. Their origin is associated with the story of a compassionate girl Agura. When the rebellious titan Prometheus was chained to local rocks, she alone was not afraid to oppose the will of the gods and brought food and drink to the unfortunate man. The angry celestials cut the initiative short: Agura was turned into a mountain river as punishment, and the defeated titan was left alone with an eagle pecking his liver. Since then, and the rocks near the river were named Eagle.
Upon closer examination, the legend does not stand up to any criticism. According to Greek mythology, Prometheus suffered to the south, in Colchis, and no heroic maidens near him was not observed. However, tourists like the story, as do the statues of an eagle and a titan greeting them during their forest journey to Agurskiye waterfalls.
.Features of the route
Tourists have two options for visiting Agur waterfalls – from below, from the sea side, and from above, from Mount Akhun. The first way, the more popular, on the one hand, requires a lot of physical effort, because travelers will have to go up the mountain all the time, with a height difference of about 350 m, and the steepness increases from waterfall to waterfall. On the other hand, it is recommended to those who are not ready to go the whole route. It is enough for them to admire the Lower, the most spectacular waterfall, after which they safely return back.

The second way, from top to bottom, is easier to overcome if the road is dry. On a wet path you can only descend in quality trekking boots, ordinary sneakers are slippery.

Lower Waterfall

After passing the Lower Waterfall, tourists head upwards to the Middle Waterfall. They have to overcome half a kilometer of ascents and stairs. The 23-meter-high waterfall is convenient to view from the boulders on the opposite bank. You can swim in the resulting lake, and the water warms up well in summer. Near the Middle Waterfall there is a kiosk, where in high season you can buy simple snacks and drinks.
