Agoy settlement
Agoy is a resort village on the Black Sea coast, part of the recreational zone of the city of Tuapse. In translation from Adyghe language the name “Agoy” means “middle river”. The village lies on the border of the Russian subtropics and is very popular with tourists. It attracts travelers with a magnificent climate, good pebble beaches, remoteness from noisy cities, clean mountain river, picturesque landscapes and reasonable prices for accommodation. The popularity of the resort is evidenced by the fact that in the summer season in Agoya rests up to 50 thousand tourists.

Geographical location and climate
Agoy lies at the mouth of the river of the same name, on the seashore, 10.7 km northwest of the resort town of Tuapse. Resort village and Tuapse is separated by the high Agoy Pass, through which the federal highway M4 “Don”. On the pass there is a monument in honor of the fact that the Taman Army – part of the Red Army, which fought in the North Caucasus, passed through this place in 1918. Next to the monument is located cafe “Panorama” and equipped observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of Agoy and the surrounding forested mountain spurs.

Not far from the pass is a local natural attraction – beautiful Agoy rocks, consisting of layers of Black Sea flysch, sandstone, marl, limestone and mudstone. The ancient rocky outcrops stretch for several kilometers and are up to 40 m high. They can be viewed directly from the highway.

High passes and steep mountain slopes covered with dense forests separate the valley of Agoy from the rest of the coast. In the resort village clearly manifest features of the temperate Mediterranean climate and a strong influence of the subtropics. In the height of summer average air temperatures are +23 °С, and maximum temperatures are +29…+30 °С. In the middle of winter the average air temperature does not fall below +4,5 °С. During the winter months in Agoya the maximum amount of precipitation falls.
.More than 200 days a year on the coast shines bright southern sun. The Black Sea warms up for swimming by the end of May. At the end of July and in August the sea water heats up to +23…+24 ° C, and the bathing season lasts until early October.
.Beaches of Agoy
The free municipal beach of the resort village is more often called “Central”. It begins near the mouth of the river Agoy, has a length of 400 meters, width up to 40 meters and is covered with well-laid pebbles of medium and small size. From the north to the municipal beach adjoins the beach area belonging to the recreation center “Seagull.”

Tourists love the Central Beach of Agoy for the purity of the sea water. Constant currents do not give stagnant mud, and the sea bottom in some places can be seen at 3 meters. The descent into the water is gentle, without potholes and holes, and the depth increases gradually. It is also convenient that along the coastal zone there are no large stones and sections of rocks.

During the summer tourist season, many stores selling food, drinks, beach products and souvenirs sprout up near the beach. Here you can always have a snack or a hearty lunch at a reasonable price. In the area adjacent to the beach tourists are provided with massage and whirlpool services, and there is a place where massage and foot peeling by Garra Rufa fish.
.From the Agoya beach is a great view of Kiseleva Rock, where many people go on an excursion along the beach. Some tourists prefer to drive from the beach for boat trips or go fishing on boats. In summer, a shooting gallery and inflatable slides are open on the municipal beach in Agoya. And to make bathers feel safe, there are lifeguards constantly on duty.

As in other places on the Black Sea coast, on the municipal beach of Agoya you can rent sun beds and umbrellas from the sun, use shade canopies, changing cabins, toilets and showers. There are catamarans and jet skis for rent, a beach volleyball court and various water attractions such as riding on “pills”, “bananas” and parachutes. From the village to the municipal beach get on the Central Street, which connects the M4 highway and the coastal zone of Agoy, as well as on Emerald Street, laid along the right bank of the river.

Wild stony beaches should be sought in the area of Kiseleva Rock. Those who like a more secluded vacation prefer to spend their time there.
Entertainment in and around Agoya
In Agoy there is a military airfield, where employees of the Sochi Aeroclub work. Vacationers in the resort village can book flights over the coast and sea area, as well as make parachute jumps. On the airstrip of the airfield regularly hold spectacular auto races with short-distance races.
.5 km from Agoy, in the neighboring resort village of Nebug is a large water park “Dolphin” (Novorossiyskoye sh., 1), considered the best place for family recreation in the Tuapse region. This center of water entertainment has swimming pools, exciting water slides, a lazy river, a place to play water polo, a children’s play area and a complex of slides designed for school-age children. “Dolphin” welcomes guests from June through September, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
.In addition, in Nebug you can visit the dolphinarium “AquaWorld” (Novorossiyskoye sh., 9B), sports fields and make an excursion to the ancient dolmens in the valley of the Nebug River.
.On the opposite side of Agoy, Tuapse is interesting to walk in the picturesque forest park Kadosh, visit the Museum of Local History and the house-museum of the artist A. A. Kiselev. Shopping and entertainment centers and a bowling club are also open in the resort town.

Independent excursions and bus tours
Above Agoy in the river valley is a small village Agui-Shapsug, which is 6 kilometers from the coast. In the area of this settlement, the river flows past the picturesque Wolf Rocks, consisting of layers of marl. In 4 km from aul there is a mountain gorge Satenok, where there are several mineral springs. And in the center of the aul is located ethno-yard “Nart”, introducing tourists to the life and traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of the Caucasian foothills – Shapsugs.

From the southeast of Agoya, towards Tuapse rises a well-known natural landmark on the Black Sea coast – Kiseleva Rock, which can be reached in about an hour along the seashore. The picturesque rocky cliff rises to a height of 43 meters and plunges to the water with steep ledges. The rock was named in honor of the artist Kiselev and is known for the fact that near it they filmed episodes of the popular comedy “The Diamond Hand”. Nowadays, lovers of wild beaches, mussel gathering, snorkeling and diving come to Kiseleva Rock.
.Vacationers in Agoya can participate in bus tours offered by local travel agencies. From the resort village are taken to waterfalls in the valleys of the Ashe and Shakhe rivers, in Krasnaya Polyana and Abkhazia.
.Transportation
Agoy is small in size, and within the village move on foot. To get from here to other places on the Black Sea coast, it is enough to go to the bus stop “Agoy”, located on the highway M4. Through it there are buses connecting Tuapse with Dzhubga, Psebe, Tenginka, Tyumensky, Nebug, Agui-Shapsug, sanatorium “Chernomorie” and sanatorium “Agria”. In addition, long-distance buses to Tuapse and Sochi from Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Anapa and other cities pass through Agoy.
.How to get there
The closest airport to Agoy is located in Gelendzhik (124 km), but only planes from Moscow fly there. Flights from other Russian cities are accepted by Krasnodar (165 km) and Adler (153 km) airports. From all three airports to Agoy can be reached by bus or cab, but the way by bus is not very convenient, because you have to get there with transfers.

The railroad passes through Tuapse. From the railway station in Tuapse to Agoy is not difficult to get by cab. Those who want to use public transportation, will have to walk 300 meters to the bus station, from where there are shuttle buses and marshrutkas to Agoy.
