Mount Triglav

With its three peaks, Triglav enchanted the ancient Slavs. They considered the mountain the home of the three-headed god who rules the sky, the earth and the underworld. Today it is the symbol of Slovenia: the Triglav is depicted on the national flag. National identity requires that every Slovenian climbs the peak (2864 m) at least once in his or her life. Every year, a hundred women climb the mountain to emphasize the role of women in the life of the country. Climbing Triglav is not an easy task. It usually involves at least one overnight stay in a mountain hut.
