Museum of Architecture and Life of the Peoples of the Nizhny Novgorod Volga Region

The Museum of Architecture and Life of the Peoples of the Volga Region is located in Nizhny Novgorod, in the Sovetsky district. The museum began to be created in 1969 by the decision of the Gorky Regional Executive Committee. The author of the project was architect Yuri Samoilov. The Museum of Architecture and Life of the Peoples of the Volga Region was opened on June 3, 1973. On the basis of its property on January 1, 2014 was created Architectural and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve “Shchelokovsky Farm”. The territory of the museum is 35.9 hectares and is a section of forest of 1 category, divided by two deep ravines into three unequal parts. Currently, the museum has 14 monuments of wooden architecture of the XVII-XIX centuries, transported from Gorodets, Semyonovsky, Koverninsky, Kstovsky districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
