Stanford University (Stanford University) is among the most prestigious institutions of higher education not only in the United States, but also in the world. For many decades, it has consistently ranked at the top of academic rankings: for example, Stanford was ranked No. 4 among American universities by U.S. News and World Report in 2016, and the Academic Ranking of World Universities has ranked it second in the world for many years. The New York Times has concluded that Stanford University is the true “IT school” of America America, and students consistently called it the “dream college” in 2013-2015. And this recognition is well deserved, given the scope and scale of Stanford University. After all, not only do undergraduate and graduate students study here (every year 6,700 and 8,000 respectively), but also conduct research in a variety of directions, thanks to which the world’s science is enriched with new discoveries.

Stanford University’s motto was a quote by German knight-humanist Ulrich von Gutten: “The wind of freedom blows.” During the years of German aggression, when there was a rejection of all things German, the choice was criticized, and the administration declared the motto unofficial.

There is truly a spirit of freedom on campus. Students get around on bicycles (of which there are about 13,000) and skateboards. It’s easy to study notes while lying on the lawns.
