St. Michael the Archangel Monastery

St. Michael the Archangel Monastery is located in the center of Yuriev-Polsky in the ring of ancient earth ramparts of the XII century. The monastery was founded, according to an unconfirmed legend, in the XIII century by Prince Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich. Like the whole city, the monastery was completely ruined during the Troubles and was actually rebuilt in the XVII century. Along with St. Michael the Archangel Monastery within the walls of the Kremlin are the Znamenskaya Refectory Church, the Gate Church of St. John the Theologian and St. George Church. Once here, don’t miss the opportunity and visit the exhibition of carved platbands of Yuryev-Polsky masters.
