Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier has become a landmark and symbol of entertainment and nostalgia for adults and a place to constantly beg money from parents – for children. Along the wooden boardwalk is Pacific Park, with a huge Ferris wheel and a vintage 1922 carousel that Paul Newman starred in his film The Affair. There are also numerous cafes, restaurants and souvenir stores. And down on the beach there is a huge aquarium with sea creatures.

Sometimes from the Santa Monica Pier you can see harbor seals swimming quite close to shore to bask in the sun on buoys, and dolphins playing in the water. The pier is the remaining part of the shipyard, which was once demolished, and the city authorities decided to make it a popular place for tourists to visit. The beach is 26 kilometers long. Rent a bike or rollerblades and ride along it.
