Príncipe Island

Príncipe Island is located in the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It is part of the state of São Tomé and Principe, being the second largest island after São Tomé. The island of Principe has an area of 136 km². Together with its neighboring islets – Bombom, Caroso, Tignosa Grande, Tignosa Pequena – it makes up the province of Principe, as well as the district of Paguia. Few tourists enjoy the unspoiled nature, the silence interrupted only by birdsong and the sound of the waves, and the colorful underwater world. Snorkeling close to the shores, climbing ancient dormant volcanoes and observing bird life found nowhere else in the world are perhaps the best things to do on Principe Island.
