Xcaret Park

Xcaret Park, a natural wonder transformed into a popular theme park, is an hour’s drive from Cancun. Here you can snorkel and swim, swim through an underground river and make friends with dolphins; in the evenings there are stunning shows that reference the glorious heyday of the Mayan civilization.

General Information

At Parque Skaret, don’t miss the chance to see the tapir, a strange and rare animal that looks like a hybrid between a pig and an anteater. You might even catch a glimpse of wild members of the cat family as they roam around Jaguar Island. You can arrange to be picked up directly from your hotel – then the price of this service will be added to the ticket price, which itself is high: 69 USD (2014) per person. Tickets can be ordered online and will cost you 10% less. Go to the Xcaret Information Center at the Sona Hotelera Cancun (Next to the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral; www.xcaret.com). A cheaper alternative is to take the bus to the park and pay for your ticket at the entrance. Take the bus departing from your hotel to Playa del Carmen. From Playa del Carmen, you can take a cab – it’s not far, or again, take a local bus.
