National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan

The National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan is a research and cultural and educational institution, the largest in the region and of national importance. The museum was opened in 1895 and occupies the building of the former Gostiny Dvor. The basis of the exposition was the private collection of A. F. Likhachev, a well-known in the region archeologist, historian, collector, and exhibits of the scientific-industrial exhibition of 1890. The modern funds of the National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan have over 800 thousand items, including 580 thousand items of the main fund. They systematically cover all local history topics, allowing to thoroughly study the history of the peoples of the Volga region and the Urals.
