Mustique Island
Mustique Island is the jewel of the Grenadines archipelago, located 11 km southeast of Bequia Island. The island is compact in size at 5 km long and 2.5 km wide; it has an area of 5.7 km². Mustique is privately owned, so it is not possible to rent a villa here without a recommendation. The island is managed by the Community of Property Owners and bookings are made only through them, represented by The Mustique Company. In 1958, Mustique was bought by Collin Tennant, the third Lord Glenconner, older brother of model Stella Tennant. He gave some of the land as a wedding gift to Princess Margaret, sister of Queen Elizabeth II. All those who subsequently purchased real estate on the island, automatically entered the Community. The list of buyers included world celebrities and the richest people on the planet – Bryan Adams, Mick Jagger, Tommy Hilfiger, David Bowie, the chief auctioneer of Sotheby’s Tobias Meyer.
