General information

The author of the monument to the beaver is sculptor Vladimir Gavrilenko. According to his recollections, he wanted to portray an ironic average citizen of the city at the beginning of the last century. In addition, the sculptor was inspired by the image of Buba Kastorsky from the popular Soviet movie “The Elusive Avengers.”

The metal statue weighing more than 300 kg and 1.7 meters high is mounted on a low stone base. The beaver is dressed in a dapper surtoute and holds a hat in his paw. He smiles broadly and squints his eyes cunningly.

Almost immediately after the installation of the monument to the beaver in Boruisk, there was an omen that anyone who touched the chain from the watch would gain good luck and financial prosperity. Almost the same magical properties were attributed to the beaver nose. It is also believed that tourists who rubbed their shoes will definitely return to Bobruisk again. It is not hard to guess that the metal chain, nose and toes of beaver shoes shine brightly in the sun after tens of thousands of touches.
