Monument to Vladimir the Great
The Monument to Prince Vladimir in Belgorod is the largest monument in the Russian city, rising on the slope of Mount Kharkov. It is not documented, but the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince is considered the founder of Belgorod. The monument dedicated to the Baptist of Russia appeared here in 1998. It was built according to the project of sculptor Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Klykov on private donations.

The monument to Vladimir the Great rises to a height of 22.5 meters: a 7.5-meter-high figure of the prince stands on a 15-meter pedestal. For the manufacture of large-scale sculpture was used up one and a half tons of copper, and today Belgorod monument is the largest monument to the Baptist of Russia in the world.

From the north of the monument, on the roof of the restaurant there is an excellent observation deck, decorated with lanterns and elegant fence. It offers a great view of the monument itself and the urban development. There is a pedestrian bridge to the observation deck and the monument over the busy Vatutin Avenue.
.What the monument looks like
A wide staircase leads from the paved square on the slope of Kharkov Mountain to the monument to Prince Vladimir in Belgorod. The monument itself has three tiers. On the first tier you can see 24 sculptural images: the Savior Almighty, Archangels Michael and Gabriel, the Apostles Peter and Paul, Dmitry Solunsky, George the Victorious, Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, healer Panteleimon, Fedor Stratilat, Alexander Bogolyubsky and other saints revered by Orthodox Christians.
.On the middle tier, which looks much more massive than the lower, placed inscription-dedication, relief in honor of the baptism of Russia, as well as the figures of several Christian saints. On the third tier, on a laurel wreath installed sculpture of the prince. With his right hand Vladimir holds a large cross, while his left hand rests on a pointed shield.
.How to get there
The monument to Prince Vladimir in Belgorod stands near Vatutina Avenue, 6, to the south of the historic part of the city. It is not far from the V. G. Shukhov Belgorod Technological University, 1.5 km southeast of the Belgorod-Sumskoy railway station. Buses No. 2 and 8 go to this part of the city.
