Mohenjo-Daro
Mohenjo-Daro is an ancient city-state located in present-day Pakistan, tracing its history back to 2600 BC. Nine centuries of the settlement’s existence allowed its inhabitants to build a unique complex that is still under the scrutiny of archaeologists.
.
The city was located near the Indus River basin, which quickly led to a flourishing culture. The inhabitants used the riverbed for their own purposes: farmers irrigated fields, fishermen caught fish, and merchants transported their goods to other settlements. But the ancient settlers were also aware of the dangers of the tides. That’s why the walls of Mohenjo-Daro were built on an elevation that kept the water level from flooding the houses and streets. This impeccable logic allowed the settlement to survive for almost a millennium, leaving behind valuable examples of Indus civilization.
