The national flavor of the park as well as its unusual nature mesmerize locals and tourists alike. The vast expanses of the park are home to colorful and exotic landscapes. The territory of the park is dotted with mangrove bushes, lush forests, the main vegetation of which are Cuban pines and, of course, there is an incredible number of delicate and fragile orchids that fill the National Park with their unique fragrance. Although there are not many birds and animals in this area, you can meet them in the National Park and even enjoy touching birdsong. Walking in these picturesque places is a pleasure!

Caves

Special attention should be paid to the limestone caves of the park. They used to be the home of the Lukayan Indians. It is believed that the park owes its name to them.

An excursion to these places will help you plunge into the past and forget that there is a completely different reality outside the caves. In the caves you can still meet its indigenous people, who are unusually friendly and hospitable. The tour guide will be happy to show you artifacts: shell beads, clay shards and even bones of animals that lived here. All of this is undeniable proof that there used to be entire Lukayan settlements living in these places. The great thing about the location of these caves is that they are accessible by land and water, so even if you are vacationing elsewhere, you can plan a trip to this wonderful National Park. Not far from the park (on the west side of the town), there are still villages that were inhabited by pirates about two hundred years ago.
