Lake Smolino
Lake Smolino is a natural low-saline water body located in the south-east of Chelyabinsk, on the territory of Leninsky and Sovetsky districts. The catchment area is 85.4 km². Lake Smolino is about 3 million years old. On its shores were found stands of ancient man, belonging to the Stone Age period. An interesting find of archaeologists was a sinker of a prehistoric fisherman, dated 4 millennium BC. Once the huge lake was called Chelyabinsk Sea. Today on the shores of Smolino spread equipped and wild beaches, recreation areas and hotels.
