Kalemegdan Park

Kalemegdan is the largest and at the same time the most beautiful park in Belgrade. It is located in the very center of the Serbian capital, at the end of Kneza Mihaila Street. The fortress of the same name offers an unrivaled view of the Danube estuary of the Sava River and the plains of Banat, Srem and the hilly area of Šumadija. It is this convenient location of Kalemegdan’s crest that has attracted people since ancient times.

Kalemegdan Park is a popular place for festivals, folk festivals, performances and concerts. It is divided into Small and Large Kalemegdan and is about 150 years old.

When the Turks handed over the keys to the fortress and the city to Serbian Prince Mihailo Obrenović. About 3000 trees were planted here, so the park is a real green oasis in the center of the city. There are also sports fields and courts, an art pavilion, an observatory, a zoo, a tour center, an extensive amusement park, a children’s play park and a nature museum.
