Gostiny Dvor Suzdal (Trading Rows)

Gostiny Dvor in Suzdal is a place that is never empty. And it is not surprising, because the shopping areas at all times were the center of life in the city: here came, as they say, “to show yourself and others to see”. But what is it that attracts tourists and locals so much nowadays? First of all – the unique atmosphere of the 19th century, which was preserved thanks to the efforts of restorers. It was recreated so successfully that the Gostiny Dvor in Suzdal was even chosen for filming the movie “The Marriage of Balsaminoff”. Besides, there are cafes, stores and one of the most famous Suzdal restaurants. And it is just very pleasant to take a leisurely stroll along the gallery with columns, admiring the views of the Kazan and Resurrection churches, the Church of the Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem.

General Information

The Gostiny Dvor of Suzdal was built in 1806-1811 on a square that already existed at that time, where merchant shops were located. Trade rows are a long rectangular building with a spacious courtyard. Unfortunately, only the northern side of the building survived, but in the 70s of the 20th century architects managed to restore the galleries at the western and eastern walls.

.

Now Gostiny Dvor is open to the public on any day of the week, and all establishments of the entertainment complex, given the popularity of this place among vacationers, are open late.
