The church complex is located in Chernigovsky Lane and consists of a church, refectory and bell tower. The Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist stands on the site of the ancient Ivanovsky Monastery “that is near Bor”, first mentioned in 1415, in the chronicle telling about the circumstances of the birth of Prince Vasily II. In 1514, “at the special pleasure” of Vasily III, the first stone church was erected instead of the wooden monastery temple. Its construction was carried out by Aleviz Novy. In the 70s of the XVI century here were found the relics of Prince Michael of Chernigov and his boyar Fyodor, killed in 1246 at the Horde.
