Canouan Island
Canouan Island is located in the central part of the Grenadines archipelago, 50 km south of St. Vincent. It is a small island with an area of 7.60 km². In 1979, Canouan became part of the independent state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The only inhabited settlement of the island is Charleston. Canouan has a sickle shape; it is surrounded by a barrier coral reef. The main attractions of the island are natural: tropical vegetation, secluded bays and long sandy beaches. Canouan is home to luxury resorts that have won prestigious world awards.
