Belvedere Palace

Belvedere Palace is one of the most beautiful Baroque buildings in the world. It symbolizes the splendor and luxury of the Austrian Empire in its heyday. The Garden Palace was built by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt as the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736), a great military leader of his time. From the palace balcony you can admire the city and the green slopes of the Vienna Woods. The palace houses the Austrian Art Gallery of the 19th and 20th centuries. The pearl of the collection is Klimt’s paintings (including the famous “The Kiss”), many works by French Impressionists, paintings from the Viennese Biedermeier style and paintings by the famous 20th century masters Kokoschka and Hundertwasser.
