Cossack village Ataman

Ataman is an open-air Cossack stanitsa. It is located in the Krasnodar region, on the Taman Peninsula. On this land, washed by the Black and Azov seas, the first Cossacks landed on August 25, 1792, from here the history of modern Kuban began. Ataman occupies an area of 60 hectares and belongs to the most valuable objects of cultural heritage of the Krasnodar region in the field of traditional folk culture. Construction of the Ataman ethno-tourist complex began in 2009. According to the master plan, each farmstead gives visitors an idea of a certain theme related to the life, culture, crafts and folklore of the Kuban Cossacks. The houses are built according to modern technologies, but externally they are stylized as Cossack huts of the late 18th – early 20th century, and the farmsteads are mini-museums. The main value of Atamani lies in authentic documents, photographs, tools, household items donated by the residents of Kuban specially for the opening of the complex.
