Zurich Zoo

Zurich Zoo is one of the best zoos in Europe, which was founded in 1929. This unique complex houses about two thousand varieties of fauna.

Previously, all the animals were on display in cages, but this is not the case nowadays. All the inhabitants live in spacious parks equipped to match their natural habitat. Besides such reverent care for the animals, the zoo amazes with its magnificent landscaping. It is a whole work of art.

.

The peculiarity of the zoo is the lack of fear of animals in front of humans, so it is not surprising that the inhabitants of the zoo closely approach the visitors.

What to see

The zoo is divided into several zones, where spacious aviaries house closely related species of animals in conditions close to their usual environment. In the enclosures with the utmost accuracy recreate the characteristic natural and climatic conditions for each specific area – the habitat of certain representatives of the animal world – this is the mountainous terrain of the Himalayas and Andes, and swampy terrain characteristic of Asia, and the South American tropics.

.

At Zurich Zoo you can also see very rare red-listed animals such as black-necked gibbons, king penguins or giant tortoises from the Galapogos Islands.

The Zoo is also a great place to visit.

An unforgettable walk through the “Masoala Tropical Forest” – in a huge hangar of ten thousand square meters of tropical rain, you can hear the sound of waterfalls, from the palm thickets come mischievous cries of lemurs and singing of outlandish birds. In search of amazing discoveries after a few turns on a narrow path, lost among the trees, it is almost impossible to realize where you are, so authentically recreated here the atmosphere of hot Madagascar.

.

Perhaps the most touching and funny thing is to watch the zoo inhabitants feeding. Be sure to come see the penguins being fed at 10:30 and 16:00, the fish at 14:15 and the monkeys at 15:30. And in winter, don’t miss the so-called penguin parade, which takes place almost every day at 13.30.

.

Be sure to visit the peculiar pet farm Zoolino, it will certainly be interesting not only for the little ones, but also for adults. Visitors can come into contact with the pets, who love to eat and are generous with affection – they can be stroked and fed.
