Yergaki Nature Park

Yergaki is a natural park of regional significance located in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Its area is 342,873 hectares. Yergaki is located within the Western Sayan, and due to its length it covers different altitude mountain belts. The length of the park from north to south is 75 km, and from west to east – 120 km. The pioneers of Yergaks were Krasnoyarsk artists – Vladimir Ilyich Meshkov, Toivo Vasilievich Ryannel, Rudolf Krustinovich Ruyga and others, who explored these places in the middle of the XX century. On July 25, 1969, a significant event took place: the highest and one of the most difficult to reach peaks with the height of 2264.7 m was conquered, later called Star Peak. It was conquered by experienced climbers Yuri Kuzema and Leonid Yedovin. As a specially protected natural area, the natural park was organized on April 4, 2005. The main attraction of Yergak is the Sleeping Sayan. It is a chain of rocks that resembles a man sleeping on his back. What is amazing, absolutely from all sides you can see the face, hair, arms folded on the chest, and legs.
