Walt Disney Concert Hall
Walt Disney Concert Hall is a colorful “steel” landmark in Los Angeles that is the home stage for the local Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert hall owes its appearance to Walt Disney’s widow Lillian, who wanted to immortalize her husband’s name and donated $50 million to the project in 1987. Construction began in 1991, and the grand opening was held in 2003. Architect Frank Gehry created an impressive structure of polished and matte iron sheets in the style of deconstructivism and expressionism. The Walt Disney Concert Hall can be accessed not only for an event, but also as part of a tour group. Together with a guide, visitors admire the building, visit the gardens around it, and then step inside to tour the magnificent lobby, floors, and interior decorations.
