In favor of this version is the fact that once the shores of the village were decorated with silk groves, and trade in mulberry silkworm fiber was the basis of the local economy.

.

The happy life of the indigenous population of Vardane ended in the XIX century with the Caucasian War. For their unwillingness to submit to the will of the Russian Tsar and active support of Shamil’s army, the Ubykhs were forcibly evicted to the territory of the Ottoman Empire. In 1864 the devastated lands were handed over to Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich, who founded his own estate here. Gradually the area was filled with immigrants from Russia, Greece, Armenia, Germany and Estonia. During its existence, Vardane managed to be part of the Adler and Lazarevsky districts, until it was included in the resort city of Sochi in 1961.
